This Sunday update.

South City Church is a church serving the larger Brighton and Hove community. We meet every Sunday at 11am and host weekly Connect Groups, generally on Wednesdays.
Everyone's welcome, nobody's perfect, anything's possible.

We believe in simple church. Buildings, programs and methods do not define church. We are the church as we deepen our commitment and connection to Christ. Therefore, our growth as a church is the result of knowing Jesus through immersion in His word, prayer, communion, fellowship and song. Our emphasis is growth that results from people hearing and being changed by the gospel, not simply growth from attracting spectators or attendees.  
We are a community of people that care for each other, and truly “do life” together. You’ll find that this happens, mostly mid-week, in Connect Group meetings where there are regular heart-felt check in’s, soul engaging prayer, mind renewing truth and practical action steps to follow. 

At our main church service, you’ll find more of a family environment where we are deeply committed to everyone growing, and being discipled. We value the word of God, so good bible teaching is high on our list of priorities. We want our kids to feel a part of everything that we do too, so you’ll find them reading a scripture from time-to-time, serving you a cup of tea or helping in the worship team. 

Everyone’s contribution is valued. We call this the “priesthood of all believers”. God purpose is for every Christian to build HIS church, not just a select few. If you are not in community and you’d like to get involved with us, then please get in touch. However, if you are in another church family in Brighton & Hove and Portslade that needs you, then perhaps South City Church might not be for you. We recognise that we are but a part of the wider church in this city, working together to reach our city for Christ.

What do we believe?

We believe

  • God is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine.
  • The Bible is God's perfect guidebook for living.
  • Jesus is God showing Himself to us.
  • Through the Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now.

  • Nothing in creation "just happened". God made it all.
  • Grace is the only way to have a relationship with God.
  • Faith is the only way to grow in our relationship with God.

  • God has allowed evil to provide us with a choice. God can bring good even out of evil events and promises victory over evil to those who choose Him.
  • Heaven and Hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end.

  • The church is to serve people like Jesus served people.
  • Jesus is coming again.

Simply put: 

What you'll find when you visit us is a church made up of ordinary people just like you. Our meetings are simple, and back to the basics. We often shared a meal together and host regular worship and bible study times in person and online, and we always have a great time planned for our kids. They're a big part of who we are.
